Micah is the one place I never need to worry about wearing too much tie-dye, wearing mismatched crocs, or getting paint in my ears for two weeks because I know someone else will join with me!Jennifer

I started going to Camp Micah as a 10 year old. My parents quickly changed my enrollment from 2-Week Taste to full session as they learned about the incredible summer Micah would give me. My parents loved that it wasn’t just a “Jewish camp,” but it was a Jewish camp with values, diverse activities, supportive staff, AMAZING food, and incredible opportunities I would not be able to get at a day camp or my parent’s old sleepaway camp.

I had never hiked a mountain until I went to camp. I became a lifeguard at the waterfront. I made a step stool that I kept in my dorm room. I was the lead in 3 plays. I quickly fell in love with camp, and I continued attending as a full session camper for my entire camper career. I embody the motto “I live ten months for two.”

When I finished my CIT year, I knew I could not just leave Micah, send my kids there one day, and start my college career filling my summers with classes and internships. I loved Micah so much that I kept coming back! Being a counselor at Micah has given me such an incredible perspective on leadership, friendship, and community. I love that the philosophy of tikkum olam (repairing the world) and the foundation of Micah, accepting each other in a diverse community, is something that my counselors and the admin taught me to live by and I am now able to forward that teaching onto my campers.

Camp Micah is my favorite place on earth and I love returning to my home away from home every summer! Micah is the one place I never need to worry about wearing too much tie-dye, wearing mismatched crocs, or getting paint in my ears for two weeks because I know someone else will join with me!
